Tamira Colbert is an illustrator, graphic designer, and fine artist based in Fairfax, VA. Currently, she is a senior at George Mason University as an Art and Visual Technology major with a concentration in drawing. As a child, she watched colorful cartoons, read various comics, and played video games, which led to her interest in the visual arts. Her passion grew throughout her teenage years and it continues to grow during her college years.
Tamira enjoys using dry media, mixed media, and digital software to create her artwork and designs. She is inspired by her personal anecdotes, nature, current events, and other artists (such as Kehinde Wiley, Amy Sherald, and Janine Antoni). Her illustrative work often represents African American culture and experiences, specifically of African American women, to show their community's stories in the visual arts. She also creates art that emphasizes the importance of mental health to show viewers that their mental and overall well-being matters.
If you would like to contact her for business inquiries or to simply chat, then feel free to reach her by email.
